PCB to discuss Warne’s accurate prediction in ICC meeting

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has planned to discuss the accurate prediction of former Australian spinner Shane Warne’s about the India-England World Cup in the next ICC meeting.
“Doesn’t it sound strange that he should predict it would be a tie. At the next meeting of the International Cricket Council board we would certainly like this issue to be discussed,” chairman of Ijaz Butt told reporters in Lahore on Thursday.
The chairman said that the recent spate of controversies involving spot-fixing in international cricket meant that the tweet of Warne, made eight hours before the match, had to be discussed in detail.
Three Pakistani players, former captain Salman Butt, fast bowler Muhammad Asif and pacer Muhammad Amir were banned by the ICC on 5 February for their involvement in spot-fixing in the fourth test against England last year.
The spot-fixing has been a hot topic in the current World Cup as well with the Sri Lanka and Pakistan match and the Australia and Zimbabwe game being spoken about in this regard.
Former Pakistani cricketer Sarfaraz Nawaz, who is fighting a battle against match fixing, said that he had no doubt spot-fixing is taking place in the World Cup and it was wrong to assume that only Pakistani players could be linked to the bookmakers.
“I have no doubt that spot-fixing remains an issue in this tournament and the bookmakers are trying to rope in some players, I think India is the hub of betting and fixing in cricket and the Indian bookmakers are again active in this World Cup,” he said.
62-year-old Sarfaraz Nawaz further said that the officials of ICC anti-corruption unit needed to be very vigilant during the mega event.
“It is better if the ICC anti-corruption officials start being open about which matches they are investigating so that this can discourage those involved in this menace,” Sarfaraz stated.
